Relish the taste of a wine that is named after the founder's nick name - El Cencio

Cantina Spada, Following the Tradition

Standing in the heart of Valpolicella, in the San Pietro Region, the Cantina Spada Winery is a result of the passion and dedication of the Spada family towards vines and wines. Francesco Spada, the current owner of the winery, is following his father’s footsteps and produces many award-winning wines, within the Valpolicella DOC and Verona IGT regions.

A True Family-Run Wine Business

The tale of the Spada winemaking family began in 1910 by Francesco’s great-grandfather, Giuseppe. Over the years, Francesco’s father, Renzo, refined and perfected all the wine production processes and gave the winery a new shape. Even today, at the age of 81, Renzo actively take part in many phases of vine cultivation. Named after Renzo’s nickname – El Cencio, under Rosso Verona IGT status, has won many awards because of its exceptional taste. Furthermore, the vineyards of Cantina Spada are extended over a land of ten hectares, positioned in the central part of Valpolicella Classica, in Cariano. With care and attention in the vineyards and the utmost respect to the ecosystem of the region, Francesco grows several high-quality grape varieties.

Taste the Excellent Wines from this Winery

It includes Garganega, Corvina, and Corvinone, in combination with rich-quality Molinara, Rondinella, Cabernet, and Merlot. The wines of Valpolicella DOC owe their unique tastes and aromas to the territory of Valpolicella particularly suitable for the cultivation of grapes. Some of the delicious wine categories of the estate are red, white, and dessert wines. To protect the authenticity and quality of the wines, the owner traditionally carries out all the wine production processes in the cellar. For the refinement and aging of wines, the cellar consists of top-quality oak barrels.

The wine tasting was simply perfect.

The wine tasting was simply perfect. We found the place easily. Camilla - who was our guide - spoke very good English and she was so knowledgeable and nice. The wine was very good, the aperitif that came along with the wine was very tasty. My friend whose birthday gift was this trip said that she was very happy. Hence our goal was met! Thank you for helping us finding this winery. We’ll try others too.
