Organic winery with an 18th-century villa focused on organic farming and regional wine

Pay a visit to this stately winery

Podere Castorani is characterized by a beautiful eighteenth-century villa in Abruzzo’s unique landscape, between the Majella National Park on one side and the Adriatic Coast on the other. Lying in the municipality of Alanno, province of Pescara in Abruzzo, 30 km from the coast. The first history of the winery dates back to 1793. A group of friends then re-established the winery, and they personally take care of the winemaking, right from the cultivation and harvesting of grapes to the production, marketing, and promotion of wines. The best thing is that all the work done here is with organic farming.

There is no use of any chemical fertilizers or pesticides

Experience the great wines from Podere Castorani

The vineyards are present on hills of the Alanno municipality in the province of Pescara. The vines have a great exposure to the sun, and the temperature difference between night and day gives perfect conditions for the vines to thrive. Castorani wines clearly express the territory in their superb, top-grade wines. Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Cerasuolo, Pecorino, Passerina, Cococciola, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay are the grape varieties grown here. These are used to make high-quality red, white, rose, and sparkling wines.

Visit the temperature-controlled cellar

Just like the old times, everything revolves around their winery house in the countryside. Its special feature inside the underground cellar of 5000mq is a temperature-controlled drying cell used for the production of an Amarone-style Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Jarno Rosso and Jarno Bianco. Castorani’s wines have a harmonious taste and feature tannins. The structure and flavor of the wines are perfect and loved by their customers.

We tasted good wines, received a warm welcome and even a lunch

We had a very good visit. We tasted good wines, received a warm welcome and even a lunch. There was however intransparency about the price of the visit and the tasting. We very much appreciated Winetourism’s assistance in finding and booking the visit to Castorani Winery. We give a score of 7.5/10.
