Travelosophy is a leading tour operator with a focus on wine tours and wine experiences in the area of Mt. Etna, Sicily, the highest volcano in Europe. The wine scene around Mt. Etna has been tremendously growing in the last few years. Wineries cultivate local indigenous grapes, Nerello Mascalese (black grape) and Carricante (white grape), which are a result of a combination of volcanic soil, little or no irrigation, and a mild climate. The volcanic soil is very rich in minerals, which results in a unique combination of flavor and taste. Our tours are always private, including professional transportation and private guides. Our tours usually combine a visit to an area of Mt. Etna with a visit to Mt. Etna itself, so that you can get an idea of Mt. Etna and what a volcano is. After an easy and breathtaking walk with a professional guide, you will be driven to a winery, where you will visit vineyards and cellars and have a wine tasting with the pairing of traditional Sicilian food. At the end of the activity, you will be driven and dropped off at the same location as the pick-up point, usually the hotel where you stay at. We partner with local wineries only, usually established in the period 1815–1885 and still run by the same families. We avoid big wineries with a focus on marketing and big tourist events like cruise ships. You won't find crowded wineries, and your experience will be intimate, authentic, and exclusive.
