Since 1945, Domaine Gitton judiciously spread across the best plots of the terroir.

The Gitton Family owns Domaine Gitton, which has been growing and producing grapes in the greatest terroir-appropriate locations. For forty years, only wines made and matured on the estate have been sold in more than 30 nations. The family-run estate has become well known for upholding tradition and terroir. The best wines of Domaine Gitton are a result of this concept, which has been passed down from generation to generation.

From half a hectare to 33 hectares of vineyard

The widely varied soils, which include Kimmeridgian marl, flint, and limestone from the Portlandian and Hauterivian eras, as well as the vines' average age of 45 years, promote the genuine expression of Sauvignon from our area. Each cuvée is transformed into wine independently with the utmost regard to the subtleties of each plot. From the traditional fruity Les Montachins Sancerre, produced in a stainless steel tank, to the Belles Dames, with gun-flint smells, in oak barrels of around 600 l, not to mention Galinot and Les Herses, matured on fine lees in casks, each wine has its own personality.

Diverse Grapes from Diverse Terroir

The Domaine Gitton vineyard produces high-quality, hand-tended grapes in a variety of types. In the Sancerre and Ménétréol municipalities, namely on the L'Orme aux Loups hill, a stronghold of Sancerre flint-soil, 23 ha of land are planted with Sauvignon Blanc, while 4 hectares are planted with Pinot Noir (produced into red and rosé wines). The distance between the winery and the vines in Cosne-sur-AOC Loire's Pouilly Fumé (5 ha) and Côteaux du Giennois (2.5 ha) is 10 kilometers. Due to Domaine Gitton's thorough preparation of each bottle, the wines are excellent in both flavor and quality.
