Domaine de Rocheville – Philippe Porché created the winery 15 years ago. He is a huge wine enthusiast and helped by his wife Agnès and Jérôme Callet who is a young viticulturist. The decision to grow their vines in a sustainable and organic way sits in the centre of their philosophy. They built a state-of-the-art winery aiming to fully reveal the true personality of their two varietals: Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Today they provide high-quality wines following the standards of Organic Farming and Vinification.

Domaine de Rocheville and their wines, the Prince and the King

The Saumur Champigny appellation locates in a small triangle between Tours and Angers. The clay-limestone terroirs of Rocheville are among the most interesting. Therefore, they produce four different styles of Saumur Champigny. Two of these are aged in stainless still vats with the purpose of keeping them light, fruit forward, with emphasis on a fine bouquet of red and black fruits. The other two are aged for a longer time in oak barrels. This ensures a long-lasting life with deeper tannins and flavors. The name of their wines gives a small idea of their personality, the stainless steel aged wines are named the Page and the Prince and the King and the Jester for the oak aged wines. The winery grows exclusively Chenin Blanc for white wines, La Jouvencelle, and La Dame and Cabernet Franc for their dry Saumur rosé, Le Troubadour.

Their wines are awarded in prestigious French and international contests each and every year. ( Concours Général de Paris, Decanter WWA, International Wine Challenge…). Moreover, they get outstanding grades infamous wines guidebooks. They are now labeled “Vignobles et Découvertes”, “Cave D’excellence – InterLoire”, and “Gold Prize at the Oenotourism Trophies” 2019 and 2020.
