Camigliano, One of the Oldest Wineries in the Region

Camigliano is one of the old wineries located in Montalcino. The historical castle extends up to an area of 530 hectares, surrounded by lush vineyards and a beautiful countryside. The vineyards cover 93 hectares of land. The owner has built a new underground cellar, along with the adoption of modern vinification practices. The estate has a long history of traditions and cultures that trace back to the time of crusades. The picturesque olive plantation expands over a land of 25 hectares, surrounded by the scenic landscapes.

A Castle That Became a Winery

In 1957 Walter Ghezzi, a businessman from Milan purchased Camigliano Castle and transformed the 13th-Century castle into a winery. With radical improvement and full potential, his son, Gualitiero, is currently operating the winery. He bought many new vineyards. The yearly production of wine at Camigliano is approximately 150 hectoliters.

Olives and Vines Grow in Harmony

In the vineyards of Camigliano Castle, the owner grows Sangiovese Grosso vine from which he produces rich-quality red wines. Gualtiero, with the help of his wife, Laura and their daughters, Silvia and Isabella, produces 330,000 bottles of organic wines. Besides, the owner of the winery cultivates olive groves and produces as well high-quality extra virgin oil. The yearly production of wine at Camigliano is approximately 150 hectoliters.
