Yamhill Valley Vineyards, Second Generation Winery

Yamhill Valley Vineyards is a family-owned and operated winery currently run by the family’s second generation. They are located in the premier wine region of Oregon, the Willamette Valley. Yamhill Valley Vineyards is the oldest winery functioning in the McMinnville AVA, and all of their wines are made from grapes grown in their estate vineyards. Located on the Coast Range Mountains’ foothills, their estate is spread over an area of 150 hectares and was founded by Denis Burger along with David Hinrichs and Elaine McCall.

Yamhill Valley Vineyards, More Than Three Decades of Wine History

In 1983, the winery released its first vintage, and since then, their wines have consistently won many top awards and honors in wine tasting across the whole country and abroad. The gifted region is blessed with clay-based soils full of minerals.

A cool climate and moderate rainfall with low-temperature variations make the region ideal for Yamhill Valley Vineyards’ vines growth and cultivation.

The harvesting of grapes is done manually at the beginning of October, and they produce 15000 bottles each year. The top grape varieties grown are Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Riesling. The best grapes are used to make Yamhill Valley Vineyards’ award-winning red, white, and rosé wines.

The Goal to be the Best Winery in the Region

Their 1983 vintage was regarded as first preference in the coveted “Burgundy Challenge” held in New York City. The winery’s primary goal is to create wines with a unique charm, intensity, and complexity that show the distinct Willamette Valley terroir and their hard work. The Yamhill team is stubborn in their pursuit of the best wines and has dedicated their lives to this vision.
