Producers of the best Riesling wines in Mosel along with Sauvignon Blanc and red wine

History of the Winery

The history of Weingut Karp-Schreiber dates back to 1664 when it was established in the Mosel winemaking region of Germany. The area around the winery is generally hilly in the Mosel Valley. Most of their vines are planted on hills that lie close to the Mosel River. The winery started as winemakers and fishers that used to fish the Carp from the river Mosel. The name of the winery Karp is named after this fish found in the Mosel. Now, run by the 13th generation of the family, the winery aims to make elegant, unique wines.

Stunning View from Weingut Karp-Schreiber

The view around the winery is stunning, and it is the perfect place to relax in the lap of nature. They combine their natural organic viticulture techniques with many new experiments. The proper control and harvest techniques allow for the perfect sugar level and balanced acidity in their wines. The vineyards in the famous slopes of Brauneburger Juffer and Juffer-Sonnenuhr grow some of the finest, fruity grapes. Other than Riesling, they also grow Sauvignon Blanc and use these grapes for their red, white, rose, and dessert wines.

Sticking To Traditions

The wine cellar here is old-fashioned, and they make a variety of products in the cellar, starting from dry to off-dry to sweet wines along with red and rose wines. Almost 80% of their wines are made with Riesling, but Sauvignon Blanc is also used. The region is very beautiful and includes many different hiking and bicycling routes. The beauty of the place is admired by everyone who comes to visit the place for wine tasting.

Wonderful short trip

I'm not a wine connoisseur by any stretch, being more of a beer guy. But the wines I tasted here all were very tasty....something excellent to enjoy your meal with, or just sip on with friends and loved ones. The owner is a great guy by the way, who made an out of towner with his family from the US feel very welcome. Next time I'm in the Mosel Valley region, I definitely want to stop by again. Great setting too, with beautiful hills in the valley, bicyclists everywhere, and small towns. Great stop on the way to Trier!
